Nayla Al Khaja’s film “ONCE” screening at Dubai International Film Festival
The Scene Club is very proud to announce that Nayla Al Khaja, the founder of the club will be having a screening of her short film “Once” at the well-recognized Dubai International Film Festival.
The film is placed in the “Gulf Voices” Section, which represents the talented filmmakers within the Gulf.

The Scene Club this year launched ‘Lebanese Night’ in partnership with the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The two-night event was a special screening of four short films from Lebanon, a showcase of brilliant filmmaking across the board.
This joint event helped cement the relationship between the Lebanese community in the UAE, The Scene Club and DIFF. The emphasis was on the vibrant energy and unique perspective of a shortlist of some of Lebanon’s most celebrated and applauded creative minds. This was in line with DIFF’s mandate to promote excellence in Arab cinema.
The Scene Club is extremely proud to have been involved in this year’s festival and grateful to DIFF for the opportunity to participate in the Lebanese Night. The initiative is in line with our vision to promote indigenous filmmaking and is dedicated to improving the UAE’s cinematic offering.
The Lebanese Night repertoire included the world premiere Off War Beirut by Myriam Elhajj featuring theatre director Ziad, his wife Sarah and actress Anna, whose lives are plunged into turmoil as Lebanon teeters on the brink of civil war.
Screening of ‘Kerala Cafe’ on 26th November 2009
‘The Scene Club’, a networking initiative for UAE film lovers will be screening “Kerala Cafe”. The screening will be held on Thursday 26th November at the Main Auditorium Hall. Networking will start at 7:00pm followed by the screening at 7:45pm.
Screening of ‘Iran: The Hundred Year War’ on 29th October 2009
The Scene Club presented “Iran: The Hundred Year War” which took the viewers on a journey that will undoubtedly go beyond current events and discuss a century in the nation’s history. Wafa Tajdin the new member to The Scene Club team opened the event and introducing the main guest Olivier Mille the executive producer of the documentary to the club. Mr. Hussein Al Jaziri the President of the Rotary Club Jumeirah, Dubai hosted the Q&A session and closed the event. Olivier Mille was very proud to be able to show his documentary to the Middle East audience and found it very interesting to get their views on the feature. The Scene Club team were overwhelmed again with the amount of people turning up with hardly any spare seats left.
Nayla Al Khaja becomes a jury member at the Middle East International Film Festival
Nayla Al Khaja the founder of the Scene Club had the honor of being one of the jury members for the narrative feature film section headed by Abbas Kiarostami. Nayla had the grilling job of watching over twenty films both from the Middle East and internationally but also had the great pleasure of being so involved with the respectable film festival which included having stars such as Hilary Swank, Demi Moore and Akshay Kumar at the 10 day festival. The Scene Club team goes to the world premier of “BLUE”
The Scene Club team made their way to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday October 14th to the world premier of “Blue”, like everyone their expectations were mixed. The opening started off with a small speech from Anthony D’Souza the director of the film who then welcomed on stage A.R Rahman, Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar and others. However it seemed the most exciting part was when the cast and crew were presented compared to the film, which was an embarrassment to Indian Cinema.
