Iran: The Hundred Year War

The Scene Club screened “Iran The Hundred Year War” which filled up the whole audtorium with guests and members anticipating the outcome of this insightful documentary. The Q&A session that followed straight after the screening went very well with Olivier Mille, the executive producer of the documentary. The Q&A lasted over an hour with the viewers giving their views and opinions on the documentary and also asking some interesting questions about the making of the documentary.
Peace One Day

The Scene Club hosted its fifth event for this year and was proud to have shown “Peace One Day”. With a full house filled with locals, Ambassadors and expatriates the club’s team was ecstatic to see the amount of people who came to support the UAE Peace One Day team. The Q&A at the end after the screening brought up a variety of interesting points about peace as well as a larger number of people wanting to find out ways how to be part of the Peace One Day team. Ramchand Pakistani

The screening of Ramchand Pakistani went amazingly well, with over 500 people turning up including Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of Dubai International Film Festival. The auditorium was so packed that guests were even sitting on the stairs. The film is based on a young boy who accidentally crosses the India-Pakistan border in a war like time and the consequences that follows connected to a wide audience. The audience were left pleased and in content with the message that was sent out through the film which then followed onto great discussions between the audience and Javed Jabbar, writer and producer of the film who came to celebrate his film being screened at The Scene Club.
The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off

The boy whose skin fell off left the audience speechless and still at the end of the screening. The effect the director wanted the audience to have, making them realize how precious life is. With over 200 members attending the screening the audience had a number of interesting questions answered by the director Patrick Collerton in which they found out the effect everyone involved in the documentary had after the death of Jonny Kennedy and more.
Continuum Night

Continuum night showed two fast paced short films ‘Right here right now’ and ‘Continuum’ directed by Anand Ghandi. The director sitting in the back row to hear the audience’s reactions was left with great satisfaction. Each spectator was captivated with the warm feeling of how one thread of emotion can connect to the next person in a different situation also known as the domino effect. The audience were amazed with the great filmmaking techniques and story telling in which Anand Ghandi explained the process of both films in the Q&A Session, including how he came up with these simple yet creative ideas.
Land Gold Women Night

‘Land Gold Women’ had a remarkable turn out with over 400 people, to the point where some people were sitting on the stairs! The gutsy film which finally shows the real hard hitting truth about honor killing opened a number of people’s mind to the heartbreaking truth of how family honor can ruin a family, leaving a variety of people shocked and interested to learn more about the subject, the filmmaking and research which were all answered by the director Avantika Hari. ‘The Land Gold Women Night’ was held on 25th March at the Dubai Knowledge Village Main Auditorium Hall at 7:00 pm.
