‘The Scene Club’ is UAE’s first official film club founded by D-Seven Motion Pictures and is under the patronage of the Dubai International Film Festival. Its goal is to provide a monthly platform for the film industry to come together and celebrate independent films.

Launched on 30th November 2007, the club mirrors D-Seven’s vision to promote indigenous local filmmaking and is dedicated to improving the cinematic offering of the UAE.
Its mission is to:
- Create film awareness in the UAE, particularly towards independent productions
- Create a monthly network for the film industry
- Showcase independent films from the region and provoke productive panel discussions
The club is the brainchild of Nayla Al Khaja, founder and CEO of D-Seven Motion Pictures, a well-known UAE National filmmaker. Her previous work has included the acclaimed short film ‘Arabana’. After presenting the idea of a film club to DIFF, the festival endorsed the initiative and Nayla now hosts the monthly event with management support from the D-Seven team.
To make sure that the club develops positively, the goal is to build a positive and forward-thinking relationship with DIFF, guests, the media and sponsors in order to enhance the growth of the club.
‘The Scene Club’ recognizes a number of challenges that it hopes to address.
These include:
- A lack of film awareness in the region
- A lack of exposure to international cinema
- An absence of qualified and expert guidance
- Insufficient financial resources
To help overcome these challenges, ‘The Scene Club’ is dedicated to:
- Encouraging the development of the National Film Industry
- Enhancing its marketing skills
- Promoting full media coverage
- Encouraging feedback in order to make the club more interactive and productive
Described as ‘Your UAE Film Network’, ‘The Scene Club’ is under the patronage of Dubai International Film Festival, proud partners with Dubai Culture, associate partners with Zee Aflam and The Rotary Club of Jumeirah as well as our technical sponsor Atlas Television.
